Bread–For Life

I’m told that every culture in the world has some kind of flatbread or pancake recipe. The same vegetables, fruits or meats aren’t shared by all. Bread is universal and so basic to all human life.

With that in mind, isn’t it interesting that the devil tempted Jesus to prove He was the Son of God by turning stones into bread?

Isn’t it interesting that Jesus would say He was the bread of life?

And isn’t it interesting that Jesus asks us to remember His death by the breaking of bread?

Matthew 4:3-4–And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

John 6:31-35–Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat. Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

I Corinthians 11:23-24–For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
