John Wesley Smith

My name is John Wesley Smith. This Eclectic Pilgrim blog got its start in the fall of 2008 when I decided to share Christian devotional pieces I’d written over a period of time for a prison ministry in Ohio. Now my thoughts are out there for anyone who cares to have a look. The views expressed herein are my own and do not represent the views of any particular church or denomination, unless by coincidence.

I received Jesus Christ as savior and Lord in April 1976 at the age of 16. I was a radio broadcaster in commercial Christian radio in the 1980’s and 1990’s. I’m an avid reader, writer and gardener. Much of my time for 10 years was spent maintaining DestinySurvival.com, a site on preparedness and survival in our ever changing world.

My wife and I live in central Missouri. We taught our two children at home, with me doing most of the teaching. They’ve both graduated from Bible college and are pursuing the adventures life has in store for them.

I’m a member of a writer’s group called Behind Our Eyes and am one of 65 authors featured in Behind Our Eyes, A Second Look. Occasionally my writing appears in Magnets and Ladders, an online magazine for writers with disabilities.
